はかばかしい【捗々しい】

●仕事がはかばかしく進まない. The work is making little [slow] progress.

・彼の病気ははかばかしくありません. He has not been making any perceptible recovery. | His condition shows little improvement.

・商売がはかばかしくない. The business is not doing well.

・商売がはかばかしくなくて彼は困っている. He's troubled by the unsatisfactory state of his business.

・いろいろ頼んではいるのだが, なかなかはかばかしい返事がもらえない. I've made lots of requests, but I haven't gotten a satisfactory reply.

・その薬剤でははかばかしい効果が得られなかった. The medicine has not shown satisfactory results.
